Trades Course for International Students
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Technology
Students are provided with a wide range of fundamental principles relating to industry practices and procedures, including occupational health and safety, repairs, testing, and inspections of automotive mechanical components. Students will be taught toservice, repair, and diagnose faults in motor vehicles weighing up to 4.5 tonnes and are also taught how to diagnose, service, and repair faults in light vehicle engines, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, electrical systems, and components. The structure of the course gives students a sound understanding of the vehicles’ construction, component identification, and operating principles.


Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform advanced diagnostic operations in the automotive retail, service and repair environment. The Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis provides advanced training for automotive technicians who want to further develop their diagnostic and technical skills. Those undertaking Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis are required to have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who use a wide range of well-developed cookery skills and sound knowledge of kitchen operations to prepare food and menu items. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.
This course requires students to undertake workplace integrated learning where they will have to demonstrate the ability to safely and hygienically prepare, cook and present menu items for a minimum of 60 complete food service period that covers breakfast, dinner, lunch and special function in a commercial kitchen and service environment in an actual workplace environment.

Certificate III in Painting & Decorating
This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as two specialist fields of work.
